Are 12-volt submersible pumps acceptable for low-flow sampling?

I can't speak to a specific 12-volt pump, there are three or four of them on the market, but the pumps with an open face impeller will have the greatest chance of cavitation and changing gas concentrations in the sample. Whether or not a 12-volt pump would be acceptable for your particular application is really dependant on what you are sampling. For example, if you are looking at a system that’s highly gas charged and has a lot of dissolved CO2 or other gases, this may not be a suitable method. But, if you are looking at chloride concentrations for salt-water intrusion, the method won't make any difference at all.
