Is it bad to dewater wells at a closed site?

The amount of gas you are generating from a site obviously is dependent on the liquid content.  So, if we were to completely dewater a site the potential for gas production would actually go down, however, most of the moisture is actually held within the waste itself.  Again, the waste is generally going to be somewhere less than field capacity, or less than 55% moisture content. So, you are trying to dewater the gas wells in order to maximize gas collection. But, in terms of gas production, the amount of liquid that we take out of these gas wells is fairly insignificant relative to the amount of moisture that’s in the waste itself, which is what's generating the gas. So, while there is the potential for a slight reduction in gas generation, the gas collection efficiency that’s gained by dewatering completely watered-in wells usually offsets it significantly. Overtime, of course, the total amount of gas generated is going to be dependent on just on two things:  the organic waste content that is present, and the amount of moisture that’s present to allow the waste to degrade.
