Dexter, MI (2024) – In an effort to minimise downtime for operators and improve turnaround times, QED Environmental Systems has launched QED Express, a new worldwide servicing model for gas analyser inspection, calibration, and repair.

Set to become QED’s new de-facto servicing model for all gas analysers and detectors, QED Express streamlines the company’s existing service and repair process by prioritising the factors most important to customers.

QED Express will standardise servicing for all customers, regardless of location, with the manufacturer able to offer turnaround times of just 10 days for customers across the globe. As part of this move, EMEA and APAC customers will also move to a single annual service in line with their US counterparts.

James Jones, Head of Gas Analyser and Detection Products, said: “When we made the decision to consolidate our operations to our Dexter site, we thought it important that this brought with it a new level of uniformity for servicing. It is for this very reason that we decided to conduct a full overhaul of current processes, which has culminated in the creation of a new standardised global servicing model – QED Express.

“Our gas analysers and detectors are designed to minimise downtime and keep equipment out in the field where it belongs, so it was critical that this was reflected in the service and repair process. We can now offer reduced costs and quicker turnarounds without any additional administrative burden, with customers automatically being moved onto QED Express at the end of their existing contract.”

A key enhancement to the existing procedure is the removal of the quotation and approval process. Instead, QED has used existing data to identify the most common repairs and included them as part of a flat rate free, covering approximately 90% of repairs that the company performs. Additionally, customers will be charged based on the age of their instrument as well as the level of service performed, balancing the cost of service to the actual use of each instrument.

Despite a decrease in the frequency of services for some customers, the new service model will not compromise calibration accuracy, with a 12-month guarantee for all instruments. If any further inspection, calibration, or covered repairs are required within this timeframe, they will be completed free of charge.

James concluded: “QED Express is all about bringing our operations in line and offering value to our all of our customers, saving them both time and money without compromising on the stringent calibration and repair standards that have come to be expected of us. Perhaps the biggest bonus is that this all comes at no additional effort from the customer – simply fill in your form as usual to arrange a service, and we’ll do the rest.”
